New Friends and Family, Supporters of  Music...

Delethia Ridley was born in Georgia. She grew up in a family of musicians; her grandparents and their children all sang, wrote, or played an instrument or two. Delethia loves to sing, write, and play assorted percussion instruments, She's now learning to play Bass and Guitar.

 

When Delethia was ten years old she sang in a choral group with Pete Seeger at Camegie Hall. At age 12 she studied classical Piano. By the age of 16 she started singing on demos and doing studio work for all types of groups. The first band she joined was the A1 Band, with whom she sang back-up vocals and played congas. She also did voiceover work for an HBO Special called "If These Walls Could Talk" starring Demi Moore.

 

When Roy Haynes, Jazz Drummer, became the first inductee into the Lenox Lounge Jazz Hall of Fame, Delethia sang in his honor. She has worked extensively with Alice Ridely, Lee Marvin, and was special guest singer for Pat Keating, Peter Karp, Pinetop Perkins, Ted Curson, and a host of others.

 

She has recorded a Jazz CD with Effie Jenson and Houston Person. Recorded "Whisky Train" for an album with friends of Procol Harum, which is on sale in the UK, and now in the USA. She has toured throughout Europe and the Caribbean, and is now performing between NYC and Tampa FL. Now recording her own music.
